comScore Inc is "a Global Internet Information Provider" which says it is "Measuring the Digital World". It is a US firm incorporated in 1999 and listed on the stock market in 2007. It owns M:Metrics and in the year to December 31st 2007 in its 2007 Annual Report reported $87m of revenues with 452 employees and 895 customers, one of whom, Microsoft, spent $11.3m with the firm that year. For the first nine months of 2008 in its Quarterly Report the firm reported revenues of $86m.
Its self descriptor (November 2008) says it "provides a digital marketing intelligence platform that helps customers make better-informed business decisions and implement more effective digital business strategies. The Company’s products and solutions offer customers insights into consumer behavior, including objective, detailed information regarding usage of their online properties and those of their competitors, coupled with information on consumer demographic characteristics, attitudes, lifestyles and offline behavior. The Company’s digital marketing intelligence platform is comprised of proprietary databases and a computational infrastructure that measures, analyzes and reports on digital activity. The foundation of the platform is data collected from a panel of more than two million Internet users worldwide who have granted to the Company explicit permission to confidentially measure their Internet usage patterns, online and certain offline buying behavior and other activities. By applying advanced statistical methodologies to the panel data, the Company projects consumers’ online behavior for the total online population and a wide variety of user categories."
